Video Link Not Downloading? 7 Quick Fixes
If a TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or X link will not download, work through these seven checks. Most problems take under a minute to fix.
You pasted the link, pressed Fetch, and got an error. It happens to everyone. Work through these seven checks in order. They solve the large majority of problems.
1. Check the video is public
Open the link in a private or incognito window. If you are asked to log in, or the video does not play, it is private. Only public videos can be downloaded.
2. Copy the link again
Use the app's own Share, then Copy link option rather than copying from the address bar of an in-app browser. This gives a clean, complete link. Short links such as vm.tiktok.com and fb.watch are fine.
3. Check it is really a video
Photo posts, text posts and carousels without video have nothing to download. The downloader is built for video and audio.
4. Try again in a few minutes
Some platforms limit requests from web servers for short periods, especially Instagram and Facebook. A link that fails now often works a little later.
5. Use the right downloader
Each downloader is tuned for its own links. Try the TikTok downloader, Instagram downloader, Facebook video downloader or Twitter video downloader that matches your link.
6. Switch browser
On iPhone, use Safari. On Android, use Chrome. In-app browsers inside social apps often block downloads.
7. Check your storage and connection
If a download starts but never finishes, your phone may be out of storage, or your connection may have dropped. Free some space, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and try again.
Still stuck?
Make sure the video has not been deleted and that it is available in your country. If everything checks out, the platform may be blocking requests for a while, and trying again later is the best option.
